Statement

The work in this show is in flux, I have radically changed from where I started, and I have more experimenting to do. I am a magpie, collecting ideas from various sources as I go along. In this project I was influenced by art exhibitions I attended, materials I use outside of knitting, and by the work of the gallery group. The mechanical process of making is important to me because is demarcates the line where the making and the concept meet. Knitting as a textile is known for having stretch and not holding a shape. In these structures I have reversed these two facts, creating light and rigid sculptural pieces. These works are in process and I have not fully explored where I want to go with them.
